Keena D. Charles is a humanitarian who began her career in 1992 as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. While working as a nursing assistant, Keena obtained her first bachelor’s degree in business management from Friend’s University in 2004. Using her medical knowledge and Business experience she applied and received her Operator Licenses from Allied Health in Butler County. From 1992 until the present Keena has worked in medical and mental health settings as a case Manager and advocate for senior citizens, People with mental health disorders Individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities.
After the tragic death of her son, in 2017 Keena turned her grief and pain into a cause that would shed light on the treatment of victims and survivors of homicide. Violence Impact is a 501© (3) organization established in May 2020 provides self-help groups with the focus on mental health, the 7 stages of grief and gun violence solutions for our community. Violence Impact works hard to bridge gaps in knowledge of victims’ rights, promotes community awareness, civic engagement and Youth empowerment. Violence Impact received the Devaughn James Community Service award in December of 2022. With a determination to change the way victims and survivors are treated, Keena became a Life coach Followed by her second Degree of Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in addictions. Keena participated in The Kansas Attorney General Office Domestic Violence Offender course for a certificate of completion for Offender Assessments and contact with Batter Intervention Programs. Keena received certification in Anger Management and Drug and alcohol educator. Keena currently teaches anger management skills and drug and alcohol education every Wednesday and Friday. Keena goal is to infiltrate USD 259, teen outreach and youth mentoring programs to be proactive in spreading the message of “Think before you do, Don’t do before you think” your entire world can change in 90 seconds. Keena is a member of Greater Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, a member of Moms Demand Action, A member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.
